Why the humble artichoke you ask?
Well I believe that we are all a bit of an artichoke, as obscure as that sounds.
But give me a moment to explain.
Just as an artichoke does, humans have layers, and unless you pull back each layer it is impossible to get to the core. To achieve good health and wellness we must approach the situation, task or challenge in our life from all sides. We must understand that although amazing, we are complex individuals, who require conscientious consideration.
But remember, you are not alone, because I'm a bit of an artichoke too!
Now let me tell you about my street cred.
My keen interest and journey into the field of Nutrition and Dietetics began when I enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force. My time in the Australian Defence Force allowed me to not only find a community that I am passionate about, but a vocation I am motivated to complete. I gained a very keen interest in the health care of Australian Defence Force members, particularly in the form of Exercise and Nutrition Science. As a result, on completion of my service, I embarked on my degree at university.
I completed a Bachelor of Health Science (Nutrition and Dietetics) with Honours and a Bachelor of Exercise and Movement Science with Distinction at the Queensland University of Technology. I have extensive experience in the nutritional care of diabetes, cardiovascular disease, liver disease, weight management, cancer, renal disease, and paediatrics. I am now an Accredited Practicing Dietitian and a member of the Dietitian's Association of Australia.
I will be forever training, learning, and growing, but this is what I have achieved so far:
APD: Accredited Practicing Dietitian, Dietitian's Association of Australia
Bachelor of Health Science (Nutrition and Dietetics) with Honours, Queensland University of Technology
Bachelor of Exercise and Movement Science with Distinction, Queensland University of Technology
And when I'm not being a consultant, there's a good chance you'll find me:
Hiking. Cooking. Running. At the beach. Reading a book. Eating. At the gym. Out with friends. Watching a movie. Colouring in. Writing. Hanging with my main man, James. With family. Watching Bones. Having a nap. Organsing my life. Buying stationary. Drinking coffee. Lighting a candle. Making my bed. Being a barista. At the markets. Learning. Buying clothes. Playing netball. In the sunshine. Studying.
